Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU. The inauguration ceremony took place at the UI Convention Hall, Depok Campus, Wednesday (8\/1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through a scientific oration entitled \u201cDosimetry Audit for Improving the Quality of External Radiotherapy Services,\u201d he highlighted the major challenges facing Indonesia regarding the management of cancer cases and cancer therapy services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on data from the Global Cancer Observatory (Globocan), in 2022 Indonesia recorded more than 408,661 new cancer cases with 242,099 deaths. Without significant intervention, this number is expected to jump to 63% by 2040. \"Radiation services play an important role, both in curative and palliative cancer treatment, with a contribution of up to 50%,\" said Prof. Supriyanto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he emphasized that radiotherapy also has risks that must be handled with careful planning. In this case, dosimetry audits are a key element to ensure accuracy and safety in radiotherapy services. \"Dosimetry audits can ensure that the radiation dose received by patients is in accordance with the plan, while minimizing the risk of errors in therapy,\" he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, Prof. Supriyanto called for the importance of the role of Medical Physicists in managing the quality control of radiotherapy equipment, both through internal and external audits. \"The government through the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency needs to amend the regulations so that this function is carried out optimally. Synergy between the government, hospitals, and dosimetry laboratories will greatly determine the quality of radiotherapy services in Indonesia,\" he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With various previous studies, including those focused on dosimetry calibration and international standards, Prof. Supriyanto continues to encourage improvements in the quality of radiotherapy services in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of important figures, including the ranks of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), the Chair of the Indonesian Health Council of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, and other UI Professors.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Indonesia (UI) kembali menambah jajaran Guru Besar, dengan dikukuhkannya Prof. Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, M.Si., Ph.D., sebagai Guru Besar Tetap Bidang Ilmu Fisika Radioterapi, oleh Rektor UI Prof. Dr. Ir.
