Today, Wednesday (22\/6\/2016), UI received a software grant for oil and gas exploration by the Compagnie Generale de Geophysique (CGG) GeoSoftware company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The symbolic handover event of this software took place in Meeting Room A, FMIPA UI Deanery at 09.00 WIB. This event was attended by\u00a0Edwin Trisnohadi as\u00a0Regional Manager of GeoSoftware Far East, Meiliani as Business Manager of Geosoftware Indonesia, Rino Saputro (Technical Support Consultant), Awal Mandong \u00a0(Technical Advisor), Dr.rer.nat. Abdul Haris as Dean of FMIPA UI, Managers of FMIPA UI and Head of the Geoscience Study Program of FMIPA UI as well as geoscience students of FMIPA UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"This software will later be widely used by undergraduate geology and geophysics study programs as well as undergraduate and master's degrees in Geophysics, FMIPA UI to be better prepared to work in the oil and gas industry,\" said Abdul Haris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The software donated is software that can help industry detect oil and gas resources in the bowels of the earth, namely E&P (Exploration and Production) Hampson-Russel, Jason, and PowerLog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By implementing this technology in the oil and gas industry, potential losses can be minimized before drilling is carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Even though the initial price is quite large, in the long term, this will save a lot of costs, rather than having us drill and then find it empty and lose tens, even hundreds of millions of dollars,\" added Edwin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further stated the importance of good quality human resources in running this software, because later the accuracy of the resulting structure of the earth's interior will greatly depend on the quality of the seismic data input into this tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seismic data is field data obtained through direct surveys carried out before oil and gas exploration is carried out. The data obtained includes data on the depth of the earth's interior, the quality of rock reflections, and the slope of the target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwin juga mengatakan bahwa pihaknya nantinya akan memberikan pelatihan penggunaan piranti-piranti lunak tersebut kepada para dosen yang ada, sehingga pemberian hibah ini dapat benar-benar bisa membawa manfaat bagi dunia pendidikan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CGG GeoSoftware is a geophysical software services company based in France. In the future, this company will also collaborate with several universities in Indonesia which are considered to have quality and commitment in carrying out their educational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At FMIPA UI itself, this software will be widely used by new study programs at UI, namely the Geology and Geophysics Study Program, as well as bachelor's and master's degrees in Geophysics in the Department of Physics.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
