FMIPA UI Showcases Leading Innovations and Achieves Various Awards at the UI Innovation Festival 2025.
Jakarta, 15 November 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), showcased a number of leading research innovations at the Universitas Indonesia Innovation Festival (UIIF) 2025, held on 13–15 November 2025 at the Main Atrium of Lippo Mall Nusantara, Jakarta. The event, initiated by the Directorate of Innovation and High-Impact Research (DIRBT) UI, carried the theme "Innovation for Nation: A University-wide Collaboration for Research and Societal Progress.”
The innovations presented by FMIPA UI included EWAS (Early Warning Alert System), an earthquake early warning system developed by Dr. Eng. Supriyanto and a team from the Geology and Geophysics Study Program. The next innovations were Nutribee, a high-nutrition honey bee feed made from indigenous Indonesian yeast, and Prof. Microbes, a science kit for interactive microorganism learning. Both innovations were created by Prof. Dra. Wellyzar Sjamsuridzal, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Center of Excellent IBR-GS team.

In addition to showcasing innovative products, FMIPA UI also provided information about its study programs, admission pathways, and tuition fees, which attracted the interest of junior high school students attending the event.
The Research and Community Engagement Manager of FMIPA UI, Dr. Dipo Aldila, S.Si., M.Si., considers FMIPA UI’s presence at UIIF an important step to strengthen research visibility and create public spaces for introducing both basic and applied science innovations.

“UIIF 2025 is an opportunity for FMIPA UI to share various beneficial innovations that our researchers have developed with the public,” he said to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.
He emphasized that this kind of exposure is greatly needed so that research results do not remain merely as publications or prototypes, but can progress toward broader utilization.
“Through this event organized by DIRBT UI, we hope to reach more stakeholders—from industry to the general public—which in turn can encourage the emergence of new collaborations and more tangible utilization of research,” he added.

UIIF 2025 was opened by the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk, M.Si. He emphasized that this event is an effort to foster an innovative spirit and facilitate collaboration between researchers, start-ups, and industry partners.
UIIF showcases the diversity of innovations born from the UI community. Through this event, we want to ensure that the research and technology developed by UI researchers can progress toward downstream implementation and provide real benefits for society,” said Prof. Hamdi.
Furthermore, Prof. Hamdi explained that UIIF 2025 not only involved internal stakeholders and UI’s industry partners but also featured participation from various partner universities, including the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). The involvement of these partner institutions enriches cross-institutional collaboration and opens opportunities for synergy in the development of national research and innovation.

As part of the event series, several FMIPA UI researchers received intellectual property awards for their research works that had obtained patents from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. The certificates were presented directly by the Director of Innovation and High-Impact Research, Chairul Hudaya, Ph.D., to the representatives of the inventors on Friday (14/11).
The researchers who received the awards included Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum (Department of Chemistry), who obtained six patents; Dr. Windri Handayani (Department of Biology), who received one patent; Dr. Rahmat Wibowo (Department of Chemistry), with one patent; and Harits Atika Ariyanta (Department of Chemistry), who also obtained one patent.
In addition, Cocova, a startup founded by FMIPA UI Biology alumnus Fathan Mubina, received the Highest Business Growth Award for its rapid business growth. Cocova was initiated while Fathan was still a student and has since grown significantly.
These various achievements demonstrate FMIPA UI’s commitment to promoting research innovations that not only enrich scientific knowledge but also deliver direct benefits to society. Through its participation in UIIF 2025, FMIPA UI hopes that the innovations presented can continue to be developed and implemented more broadly as UI’s contribution to the advancement of science and the well-being of society.
