FMIPA UI Contingent Wins 1st Place in TASPEN Breakthrough Innovation Competition 2020

FMIPA UI Contingent Wins 1st Place in TASPEN Breakthrough Innovation Competition 2020 Breakthrough Innovation Competition 2020 held by PT. Taspen (Persero). This was announced at the event Inaguration Day on November 18, 2020.

Referring to the given theme, namely Insurance Service Innovation in the Digital Era. Rida and the team created an innovation to update one of the Taspen Mobile service features, namely financial advisor. Financial advisor PT. TASPEN is a feature that directs users or user to implement various financial planning, for example saving and investing in PT. TASPEN.

To the FMIPA UI Public Relations team, Rida Martiza as the team leader explained the innovation update that he and his team embedded in the Financial Advisor feature is SmartAssist. SmartAssist is a mentoring service concept that makes it easier for its users to prepare ideal financial planning as preparation for the future with stable finances.

Not only that, SmartAssist also helps its users manage their daily finances easily because it is supported by a clear detailed display and provides suggestions for managing pension funds.

The stages that Rida and her team had to go through in order to achieve first place in this national competition could be said to be quite long, with a total time given of around three months. Starting from collecting essays, making and showing animated videos that explain their innovation material more concretely and comprehensively to presenting the results of the innovation work. She and her team went through all the stages smoothly.

Although, Rida said it was a bit constrained because it clashed with their preparations for the Mid-Semester Exam (UTS). Because of that, their focus was divided and they almost decided not to continue to the second stage of the competition.

“Towards deadline video submission, we were quite busy studying for the mid-term exam. Until one said, let's just let it go, no need to join the second stage. but, finally 4 hours before the submission deadline, Lintang (one of the team members) gave us encouragement, and finally we decided to make an animated video using the Power Point application, Alhamdulillah we still had time to submit 10 minutes before deadline,” kata Rida.

Shalsabila, one of the team members, hopes that her achievements and experiences will encourage her to prepare herself better in the next competition. She also encouraged her fellow students to actively compete.

"By trying once, maybe this will be a motivation for me to be better (in the next race). For my friends, don't be afraid to try, maybe the result won't end well, but there will always be wisdom that we can take from the new things we try," concluded Shalsabila.
