The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., visited the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Tadulako University (FMIPA UNTAD) to sign a cooperation agreement with Dr. Lufsyi Mahmudin, S.Si., M.Si., the Dean of FMIPA UNTAD. The signing took place on Friday, 14 November 2025, at FMIPA UNTAD in Palu.
This collaboration covers various areas, including education, research, community service, as well as training and capacity building for human resources. In addition, both parties agreed to conduct scientific activities such as seminars, workshops, and academic studies, and to support the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka Program.
In his remarks, Prof. Dede conveyed his strong hopes regarding this collaboration as an effort to strengthen academic capacity and innovation within both faculties.
“I hope that this collaboration will not only enhance the quality of education and research, but also open up broader opportunities for future collaboration between FMIPA UI and FMIPA UNTAD, so that we can continue to build an excellent and sustainable academic ecosystem,” said Prof. Dede.
Similarly, Dr. Lufsyi Mahmudin emphasized the importance of synergy between science faculties to strengthen innovation and the academic capacity of both lecturers and students. He added that this collaboration will serve as a foundation for developing more integrated educational and research programs.

In addition to the signing of the cooperation agreement, Prof. Dede also attended as a speaker in the Doctoral Study Orientation Workshop for lecturers, focusing on academic collaboration and innovation, title “Unlocking the Next Chapter: Academic Collaboration and Innovation toward Doctoral Futures.” The event took place in the FMIPA UNTAD Auditorium and was attended by all lecturers from various study programs within FMIPA UNTAD.
“In his presentation, Prof. Dede emphasized the opportunities for developing an academic career through pursuing doctoral studies, as well as the importance of research collaboration, scientific innovation, and academic networking.”
“Doctoral studies are not merely about obtaining a degree, but also about building research capacity, fostering innovation, and expanding academic networks that strengthen our contributions to science and society,” said Prof. Dede in his presentation.
“This program was designed to provide an in-depth understanding of graduate study preparation, the dynamics of doctoral research, and strategies for sustainable academic capacity development. The participants’ enthusiasm reflected FMIPA UNTAD’s commitment to supporting the development of excellent and competitive human resources.”
“Prof. Dede expressed his hope that the materials delivered would encourage the enhancement of academic and research quality at FMIPA UNTAD, while also demonstrating FMIPA UI’s support for the development of other science faculties so they can advance and grow together.”
