FMIPA UI Undergoes ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accreditation Assessment Visit for the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory
Depok, October 9, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), underwent an on-site assessment visit for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation of the Center of Excellence for Indigenous Biological Resources–Genome Studies (CoE IBR-GS) Laboratory on October 8–9, 2026. Conducted by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), the assessment aimed to verify the data and information submitted by FMIPA UI as the basis for evaluating compliance with accreditation criteria, including through direct observation and on-site assessment by the assessment team.
Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., accompanied by the Vice Deans, Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit (UPMA), and faculty managers, welcomed the KAN-appointed assessors in Meeting Room A, FMIPA UI Dean's Office Building. The assessment team consisted of Dea Winiarti, S.Si., M.KM., M.Biomed.Sc., Ph.D., as Lead Assessor, and Dewi Ria Agustin, S.T., as the technical assessor for Biology.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Tito emphasized that the assessment was an important step toward strengthening governance and improving laboratory quality at FMIPA UI. Through this process, laboratory management is expected to become more systematic and consistent, thereby optimally supporting education, research, and scientific development. This initiative also reflects FMIPA UI's commitment to maintaining the quality of its laboratory services on an ongoing basis.
“FMIPA UI currently has the second-largest number of laboratories at Universitas Indonesia, with a total of up to 54 laboratories. One of our flagship facilities is the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory. Therefore, we need to promote the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation to ensure that the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory has a system capable of supporting research activities competently, consistently, and accountably,” Prof. Tito stated.

Over the two-day assessment, the assessors conducted an in-depth examination of the management and technical aspects of conformity testing services provided by the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory to its clients. The assessment was supported by Prof. Dra. Wellyzar Sjamsuridzal, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory, and the laboratory team. The evaluation referred to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard to verify the completeness and conformity of the information submitted by FMIPA UI during the accreditation application process.
The on-site assessment concluded with the presentation of the assessment findings by the assessors. The session was attended by Dean of FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si.; Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D.; Head of UPMA Januar Widakdo, Ph.D.; Manager of the Research Ecosystem and Impactful Science Commercialization Zico Alaia Akbar Junior, Ph.D.; Budi Sulistyowati, S.Si., M.Si., representing the UI Directorate of Academic Quality Assurance (DPMA); Head of the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory Prof. Dra. Wellyzar Sjamsuridzal, M.Sc.; Dr. Fitria Ningsih, S.Si., M.Eng.; Dr. Mazytha Kinanti Rachmania, M.Si.; and all CoE IBR-GS Laboratory staff members.
Based on the assessment findings, the assessors issued recommendations regarding the fulfillment of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation requirements for the FMIPA UI CoE IBR-GS Laboratory. These recommendations covered the fulfillment and improvement of specific requirements and clauses in accordance with the observations and feedback provided by the assessment team.
The CoE IBR-GS Laboratory at FMIPA UI is one of the Higher Education Centers of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI-PT) laboratories under the Research and Community Engagement Unit (UKK PPM) of the Institute of Applied Sciences (LST), FMIPA UI. The laboratory focuses on microbiological research and provides a range of services, including molecular identification of microorganisms (fungi and bacteria), microbiological testing, microbial community analysis, long-term microorganism preservation, microorganism culture provision, and consulting services.
The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation assessment represents a strategic step toward strengthening the quality management system and enhancing the capabilities of the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory. This effort is expected to improve its competitiveness, expand collaboration opportunities, and strengthen its reputation in research and scientific services. Consequently, the CoE IBR-GS Laboratory is expected to continue contributing to the development of a research-driven innovation ecosystem through scientific services and collaboration within FMIPA UI and Universitas Indonesia.
