Virtual Graduation Ceremony for Odd Semester 2020-2021 FMIPA UI Graduates First Class of Actuarial Science Undergraduate Program

Saturday (6/3/2021), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia held a virtual Odd Semester Graduation ceremony for the 2020-2021 Academic Year for all graduates totaling 449 people from the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels.

The implementation of this year's odd semester graduation is a valuable moment for FMIPA UI, especially for the undergraduate actuarial science study program. The reason is that the study program which was established in August 2017 produced its first graduates totaling 13 people, one of whom even achieved cum laude predicate with a GPA of 4, he is Christian Evan Chandra. For his achievements, he was named the best graduate at FMIPA UI.

In addition to Christian Evan Chandra, 45 graduates of the undergraduate study program achieved cum laude predicate. Meanwhile, from the master's study program, there were 13 graduates with the highest GPA of 3.99 achieved by a graduate of the mathematics master's study program, namely Permatasari Silitonga, and from the doctoral study program level, 2 graduates received cum laude predicate with the highest GPA of 3.96 achieved by Novrita Idayanti, a graduate of the Materials Science doctoral study program.

With this achievement, Permatasari Silitonga and Novrita Idayanti entered the ranks of the best graduates of FMIPA UI along with 22 other graduates from each study program.

Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., Acting Dean of FMIPA UI in his speech expressed his pride in the graduates, and appreciated all the achievements made by the graduates.

To the graduates, he also said that FMIPA UI continues to strive to improve its reputation in order to be able to compete internationally through rankings by world university ranking institutions such as QS World University Ranking, Times Higher Education World University Ranking, Webometrics, and so on.

"In 2021, we at FMIPA UI are trying to improve our reputation so that FMIPA UI is included in several top world rankings such as QS WUR, THE WUR, Webometrics or others," said Dr. Rokhmat.

Currently, said Dr. Rokhmat, there are 4 (four) main points that are the main focus of FMIPA UI as an effort to improve world ranking, namely improving academic reputation, Publication-Citation, National and International Collaboration, and Innovation.

Furthermore, he also explained the progress of FMIPA UI's research collaboration with various parties. This research collaboration is being carried out as a priority to encourage the development of FMIPA UI. The areas of collaboration include big data/data science/artificial intelligence/cloud computing and sustainable energy, especially Lithium Ion Battery.

In closing, he gave advice to his graduates to continue developing their competencies amidst the increasingly complex challenges of the world. He also hopes that FMIPA UI graduates will be able to become leaders of the development and progress of the world, as well as role model which is good for society, so as to bring honor to the name of the alma mater.

"We hope that FMIPA UI graduates will be able to become leader, thinker, innovator and problem solver in society," he added.
